In her first high fashion editorial exclusively for LUISAVIAROMA.COM, Jasmine Thompson channels the idle teen age.

Girls, in juxtaposition between energy and ennui, become aware of elsewhere. Stillness tempts hearts in a room with no room. This is the calm before the youthquake, where tensions betray intentions and dressing up foreshadows the unraveling of adulthood. This is an age of infinite afternoons, of eyes running up the wall and falling on static time as beauty waits to meet the whole world watching.

people see truth when it’s online or in person. If you believe in what you do and you really love it then you just keep on going.

Jasmine Thompson is the teen singer-songwriter from London who gained international fame from her YouTube covers “Let Her Go” by Passenger and “Ain’t Nobody” by Chaka Khan. Her story is beyond inspirational: an internet sensation by her mid-teens, Jasmine Thompson’s sizzling voice has appeared in TV show intros, commercials, and is now regularly appearing at the top of the charts around the world. Jasmine dropped by LUISAVIAROMA to open up about her experiences, inspirations and goals.

“People see truth when it’s online or in person. If you believe in what you do and you really love it then you just keep on going. It took me 5 years to get to where I am now. I’m almost at 2 million subscribers on YouTube and I’m so happy.”

Young eyes, old soul, all dressed up with everywhere to go…

The art of the new interior space is about eclectic decorating, giving new meaning to retro style. Raw imagination is born out of elaborate interiors, enriched by a nostalgic 1970s aesthetic featuring throw pillows from Les Ottomans and a sleek, gentleman’s club style floor lamp from Flos. The library, a metaphor for the growing mind, becomes a cerebral space mixing thoughts and emotions, prose and poetry, required reading and forbidden knowledge.

Around every corner, there is room to discover, the scent of some lover, a tale to uncover…

The 1970s have been in the air, a sensuous decade that fused music and aesthetic highs. Fashion and interiors featured warm colors in a mood evocative of romantic melancholy and femininity. Highly centered around mixing rich textures and materials, there is something innately seductive about the epoch. Speaking about her love of fashion, Jasmine says, “Fashion is really important. It’s a great way to show my feelings or express who I am. If I dress casually it’s because I’m a casual person.” Fashion infuses both the body and the bedroom. Dressing up lays the foundations for a lifetime of fine taste. Handmade linen bedding from Once Milano is the perfect lounging place for purple plissé, Chevron silk, burnt yellow and quirky midi heels from Gucci.

Interiors infused with music take on an intimate type of poetry. “People can see honesty when you sing or act or dance, whatever you want to do in your life. People can see if you truly mean it. I think the secret is you just have to give it your all and spend 100% of your time on it.” Jasmine describes her love of music as a passion that has taken over her life. “I think the secret to doing what I’m doing at the moment – traveling the world, singing for people, performing in front of people, making videos online – the trick is to just stay true to yourself.”

“I’ve been on YouTube for about 5 years now and it’s taken me a while to get to where I am. I’m almost at 2 million subscribers on YouTube and I’m so happy. The thing about the internet is you can just go and spread your music wherever you like so it’s an amazing thing nowadays.” Jasmine’s warm voice has captured the attention of millions and matches perfectly with the warm bohemian tones set by Valentino, Isabel Marant, and interior accents by Roberto Cavalli.

Jasmine cites Florence and the Machine as one of her favorite artists. “She’s actually one of the only three albums I’ve ever bought in my life… The way she sings sounds like she’s giving all of her emotion away to you in a song. It’s incredible. ” Giving emotion away is the essence of artistry. Lounging around and indulging in lost time generate new forms of creativity by nurturing a natural eccentricity from inside to outside to domestic spaces.
