Mother’s Day with Lena - Mother-Day-Lena-header

The German-native on living life in the moment… especially on Mother’s Day!

Where will we find you on Mother’s Day?
This year I will be on Ibiza with my husband and family. My husband and I are working here for several weeks on some productions and we brought the kids with us!

Being a mother is… the best thing ever happened to me

My kids are… everything to me

Your all-time favorite memory with them?
It’s actually happening right now – waking up together in our small apartment with the view on Dalt Vila, having time together 24/7 is just priceless.

How about with your own mother?
My Mom taught me unconditional love and I remember that she was/is always there for me. I will never forget my first heartache when I was 12, she was so caring and loving and took it very seriously instead of laughing about a 12-year-old teenager – in the end I think she actually had to laugh but she never made me feel foolish or misunderstood! Pretty sure she and my dad had some fun about that later on …. haha

How would you describe your style?
It has to be casual yet stylish as a Mum of two – in general my signature look is a skinny ankle pants, a basic shirt a blazer (mostly Balmain) and some sneakers. To dress the look up I add a designer bag, always.

Has it changes since you became a Mum?
Before I became a mum I liked high heels and I didn’t think about ‘normal’ occasions such as Kindergarten pick up or something like this – haha – so in general it was a bit more fancy, but actually I like it better now! It’s obviously more casual but with some design essentials which are eternal.

How would you describe your kids style?
Luca my 5-year-old daughter has her own head, she loves dresses. She would never wear pants! I tried everything to get her to wear something other than dresses but no chance. And as a typical five-year-old she loves pink – I know it’s a phase so I let her go … She is very good at pairing and I am proud of how creative she is with her clothes. Lola, the 8 months old is mostly dressed in nude and blush colors since it suits her dark tan so well.

What are some of the challenges you have faced as a mother?
The patience is a challenge, every day. I’m not a patient woman. I used to go for fast and spontaneous decisions which you can forget as a parent. These changes in terms of freedom were the hardest – but all worth it!!!!!

How have you overcome them?
I understood that my tempo is a different one when I am alone and that my tempo as a Mum can’t be the same – so I slow down when I am with the kids and as soon as I’m on my own I can go back to my routine;)

What message would you like to give other mothers on this special day?
I know some women who are afraid of all the ‘sacrifices’, that’s what I hear always – I can only say that life changes only when you allow it to – our life hardly changed, because we made our children part of OUR life and didn’t start a new one. I would recommend everyone to not think about it too much, just make kids and enjoy life together. Our parents or their parents didn’t make a big deal about it at all, why should we!? It’s the best thing in life and the only thing that lasts …
