LuisaViaRoma had the chance to catch up with Hong Kong model and actress, Janice Man. We spoke of her career, how she got where she is, passions, style icons, and more. Follow our chat with Janice Man as she wears some of her favorite looks from LVR.com.

A bit of history…

Actress and model Janice Man was scouted on the streets of her birthplace Hong Kong at the age of 14. With her outstanding acting abilities, beauty and elegant appearance, she has emerged in the Hong Kong entertainment industry as a representative of the new generation of young Hong Kong models. She has twice been nominated for Best Supporting Actress by the Hong Kong Film Awards, first in 2015 for her performance in Helios and again in 2016 for her performance in Cold War II.

“My dream is to be an actress.”

LVR: How would you define yourself as both an actress and a model?
Janice Man: Modelling and acting are very different. I started out as a model and I really like being photographed, but since becoming an actress, I pay more attention to my surroundings and my emotions. I like both jobs but I currently work as an actress.
LVR: Out of all the roles you’ve played, which is your favorite and why?
Janice Man: One of my favorite roles was playing the cruel female killer in Helios. It was a very challenging film, and I think it’s a role that surprises the audience as well.

LVR: You play Wang Yuyan in the upcoming TV series The Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils, could you tell us about the difference between the looks of Wang Yuyan, Li Ningyu in The Message and Sarah in Hard Memory? Which one do you prefer?
Janice Man: In the period drama “The Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils” Wang Yuyan is very slender, beautiful and smart. She is the center of attention. Sarah, the female agent in the series “Hard Memory” is industrial, beautiful and cool. When I played Li Ningyu in the TV series “The Message”, I had the opportunity to wear a cheongsam and I loved it. It’s one of my favorite looks. I like all three characters because they are different interpretations of myself.

LVR: What kind of costumes do you like performing in and what kind of roles you would like to play in the future?
Janice Man: I hope to have a role in a fashion workplace drama, which will incorporate my views on fashion and give me the opportunity to demonstrate my emotional range as an actress in a modern drama.

LVR: How do you define your style?
Janice Man: Simple, neutral, black and white is the definition of my style.

LVR: What are your favorite brands? Why do they attract you?
Janice Man:The tailoring of YSL is very delicate. Their apparel incorporates graceful lines that make the wearer feel cool and sexy. Lately I also really like Gucci’s vintage style.
