Working with Children 101 – Founder and Editor of kid’s wear Magazine, Achim Lippoth captures this season’s most striking childrenswear collections.

Achim Lippoth started kid’s wear Magazine in 1995, as a medium to publish his photographic work.  Shortly afterwards, kid’s wear Magazine grew into a conceptual project, in part due to the support of well-known photographers including Oliviero Tuscani, Michel Comte, Nan Goldin, Bruce Weber and many others, who contributed their projects related to children. Somewhere in between commerce and art, kid’s wear sets the tone for art and kids fashion photography. “I often compare the idea of kid’s wear Magazine to a child itself: it is very versatile – sometimes colorful, sometimes minimal, sometimes moody or funny… in short: everything a child could be,” says Lipoth

His work reflects the beauty of childhood – unprejudiced, open and always positive – and captures the true emotion of each subject.  Lippoth expressed that while the spontaneity children bring to each shoot is exciting, it is also one of the greatest challenges.

When asked about the direction of childrenswear the photographer said, “In general parents are willing to spent more money on their kids. They want something special and set great value upon sustainability…  The first time I stepped into Luisa Via Roma I had immediately the feeling that they are forwarded in terms of image and product assortment.”
