At the cornerstone of fashion and culture, you’re sure to find Grover Rad. Born out of a desire for clothes that start conversations, LA-based interior design entrepreneur and art collector Lizzie Grover Rad founded her namesake collection this year. Rather than straying from controversy, Rad leans into the important albeit uncomfortable conversations dotting our current cultural landscape. As a visual storyteller, she utilizes her expertise developed in the interior and fine art space to translate these conversations into clothing, too. “Our bodies are our billboards,” says Rad. “I wanted people to present their views and have interesting conversation-starters to wear out into the world.”

Grover Rad’s Collection 002 is titled Billionaires in Space. Instead of unifying mankind in a quest for innovation, space flight has evolved into the next frontier for capitalism, as billionaires revert into “boys” playing an “elitist ego project,” she says, launching rockets into space and turning inter-planetary exploration into tourism profits. Nonetheless, Rad poses the question of a different post-apocalyptic future of a planet ruled by women.
Utilizing her signature approach to storytelling, the graphics take center stage with minimalist silhouettes as the foundation. In this collection, you can find Christ’s Descent Into Hell by Hieronymus Bosch as a collection mainstay, a simultaneously lusty and empowering female-centric print on a mesh dress, and an embellished crop-circle design in reference to alien conspiracy theories, which is a favorite of Rad’s in the collection.
Done in a palette of earthy tones, the collection is designed to last, and spark powerful conversations, whether worn at a holiday party this season or as your go-to coat or favorite T for years to come, while ensuring a sustainable approach to style. Rad shares that they’re “all made in LA and nearly 95% of the collection utilizes all biodegradable cotton and silk”––confirming that you can feel good about supporting the Mars matriarchy.
