From her early days as a member of the renowned K-pop group Girls’ Generation to her thriving solo career as a singer, actress, and entrepreneur, Jessica has captivated the hearts of fans worldwide with her undeniable talent and unwavering determination.

Over the course of her career Jessica has become closely associated with the fashion industry, from developing her personal brand to becoming a fashion expert many turn to for inspiration.

Amidst the preparations for the highly anticipated LuisaViaRoma x British Vogue Fashion Icons Show, we had the privilege of interviewing Jessica, who traveled to Florence to be part of this extraordinary event. Join us as we take a closer look at her recent achievements, unique fashion sense, and the artistic influences that fuel her creativity.

How would you describe your personal style? Do you have any fashion attributes that you can call  your signatures?

I would describe my personal style as classic and timeless – it is very important to me. When I look at the clothes I wore 10 years ago, I feel like I can wear it again now and then again, 10 years later. When I look back, I still feel comfortable with my choice of clothes and style.

As a fashion designer, do you contribute to the styling process of the characters to portray in your acting roles?

I contribute and participate a lot in the creative and styling process, whether it’s for red carpets, events, TV shows or even just everyday life. I think it is important because it allows me to portray my personality and character to the public.

Attending various high-profile events, you have access to a wide range of designer fashion. How do you curate your wardrobe and select outfits for different occasions? Are there any specific factors or considerations you take in account?

Fortunately, I’m very lucky to be able to wear various outfits and collaborate with many different fashion houses and designers. I certainly am sensitive to understanding TPO [time, place, occasion] and being professional and appropriate – very important not to be under or over dressed. I aim for looks that are naturally fashionable – not sure if that makes sense but “over trying” tends to lead to fashion mistakes.

Since you’re constantly on the go, could you please share three essential pieces that form the foundation of an ideal travel wardrobe for the SS23 season?

Definitely comfy shoes, a pair of your favorite jeans and a cardigan. Seemingly wherever I’ve been recently, air conditioning is taken to the extreme – not sure how I would survive without a light cardigan or sweater. When I travel, I want to be comfortable – because I like to walk a lot and explore, hence the need for a pair of comfy shoes and jeans.

With the rise of social media and its impact on fashion, how do you navigate the digital landscape to share your fashion choices and connect with your followers? How do you strike a balance between staying true to your personal style and adapting to current trends?

I try to be as genuine and real as possible, because in the social media world, people are quite intuitive, they know if what you’re posting about is a true love of yours and something you have a passion for. And for me, I’m very particular in what I want to post and what I don’t want to post. And I think that’s what my followers like about me, they see my daily outfits, they generally enjoy it because it is what I wear outside of my work environment. You just have to be real and genuine.

I’m never afraid to try anything new and mix in current trends but I feel like you really do have to know your personal style and stay true to that. Because in the end, that is your character, that’s you and that’s what makes me Jessica Jung – to me, fashion is all about having fun.
