Coez

Silvano Albanese, also known as Coez, is a staple in the Italian music scene. Eclectic and multifaceted, he gained mainstream success in 2013, but has been in the music industry as an independent act for over a decade. Before his solo career, he was a member of the hip-hop collective Brokenspeakers and opened shows for top names such as Busta Rhymes, Dilated Peoples, Colle Der Fomento, Club Dogo, and many others. He began his solo career in 2009 and became a rap sensation at the age of 30, with the release of his project “Non erano fiori” and his participation at the Rome Music Summer Festival in 2013. He can count collaborations with big names in Italian rap like Marracash, Ghemon, Tormento and Emis Killa. Topping the charts and constantly selling out arena shows, Coez is here to stay.

Tell us about your latest project. What was the inspiration behind your album “Faccio un Casino”?
All of my songs come from personal life experiences, including the tracks on this album. For this project, I wanted to go with a thought-provoking title, and sort of predict what would’ve happened after its release, which it did.
When and how did you start getting into music?
I never had the courage nor the dedication to learn how to play a musical instrument. If it wasn’t for rap, I probably wouldn’t be doing this right now. So I started getting into music once I discovered rap.

You collaborate often – who would you like to collaborate with next?
I don’t have any particular interest in collaborating right now. I only work with people that I know personally and with whom I have a connection with beyond music. So I’d say that I would like to work on a track with Noyz Narcos and Salmo.
What are your musical influences?
From Vasco Rossi to Kid Cudi, and everything else in between. I’ve always listened to a lot of English music as well.
How would you define your style?
Versatile, eclectic, cross-sectional. With music, as well as fashion, I’ve always kind of done whatever I wanted to do.

Do you have a favorite designer?
Yes, Danilo Paura. We have a lot of things in common and, after meeting him in person, I discovered that we have a similar background. Of course, I also love his stuff and think is incredible.
Your favorite song to perform live?
“Faccio un Casino” – I could perform it 8 times in a row. I actually performed it 3 times at a show in Rome, and pissed off a few people… (laughs)

Drops to keep my vocal cords hydrated, cortisone and Tommaso Biagetti, my social media manager.
Your life motto?
Every time I find myself at a crossroads, having to choose between the hard way and the easy way, I always choose the hard way. This kind of became my motto in life.
