ABOUT MÄRCHEN
Designer Mei Chen was born in Fujian 1990. She graduated from Central Saint Martin in 2014, before launching her ready-to-wear label MÄRCHEN the following year. The name MÄRCHEN comes from the German word for fairytale and is a unique translation of the designer’s own name Chen and month of birth.
A good garment should bring people the sense of purity along with the sense of secure. Mei Chen believes this journey starts from the very fabric a designer chooses to use. So she changed the former concept of pattern crafts from printing to “making”: using the exquisite handwork to attain the impeccable textures. MÄRCHEN is a select yet sweet eclogue for the precious beauty of daily life.
The designer’s Spring Summer 2017 collection, her second, was inspired by the life and work of American painter Agnes Martin.
