“So Far So Close” is the perfect phrase to describe the topics addressed during the talk organized by Outpump for LUISAVIAROMA held on the LVR Terrace on the 15th of June.
The world of high-end fashion and that of sneakers belong to two seemingly distant spheres which have blended harmoniously over time. During the SNKRS_FASHION.INDEX event, it was exactly this topic that was discussed. The event featured the editorial coordinator of Outpump Claudio Pavesi (who acted as moderator for the occasion), the unique insights of RAL7000STUDIO footwear designer Agata Panucci, the digital entrepreneur Federico Barengo and LUISAVIAROMA assistant buyer Marco Renna.
In recent years, and still today, the three guests have had the opportunity to observe the evolution of the fashion world from different perspectives, thus being able – during the talk – to contribute their interesting and different points of view. It emerged that, first of all, it has been the market that has changed, dictated by a perception that many brands and designers have managed to convey. Riccardo Tisci, sacai, Off-White and UNDERCOVER are just some of the hottest names that kick-started the disruption of this phenomenon.
The increasing attention paid to this new fashion scene is tangible in the purchasing behavior of customers of a store such as LUISAVIAROMA (both brick-and-mortar and online), the results of research on design and materials carried out by RAL7000, and in the meticulous disclosure on social networks by Federico Barengo, who has witnessed an increasingly significant circle of interested parties develop around his image.
Two universes that collided and decided to look to the future, preserving and reinterpreting their own backgrounds. Until a few years ago it would have been impossible to imagine a crasis between the worlds of sneakers and high-end fashion: what, then, might be the key to understanding this phenomenon or to finding the correlation which brings these two worlds together?
Fashion brands, at a historiographical level, tell us how having a concrete story upon which to base their collections is the key to remaining firmly in everyone’s mind. However, it functions in exactly the same way in the world of sneakers: there are numerous models on the shelves, on e-commerce sites, in clearance stores and so on, but only those with solid storytelling manage to enter the footwear hall of fame.
The aim of SNKRS_FASHION.INDEX was to convey the fact that in the world of fashion there are no borders, but only land to be contaminated, a future to build and barriers to break down.
