Citizens of Humanity Group has joined forces with French biotech pioneer Pili and Turkish denim mill, Orta, to unveil the Eco-Indigo collection in a groundbreaking step towards redefining denim’s sustainability. This collaboration introduces a revolutionary bio-based indigo dye, an innovation that slashes CO2 emissions by 50% compared to traditional petroleum-based dyes. The Eco-Indigo collection, debuting in Spring 2025 under the Citizens of Humanity and AGOLDE brands, seamlessly integrates Pili’s bio-based dye with Orta’s advanced manufacturing expertise and Citizens of Humanity’s Regenerative Cotton Program. This continues the group’s commitment to making denim the cornerstone of every collection accompanied by luxury design pieces for the contemporary wardrobe. Citizens of Humanity Group CEO Amy Williams leads the shared vision for a regenerative future, demonstrating that true innovation stems from collaboration, commitment and action. What do you think this innovation says about the future of denim and fashion? Do you feel this is the start of a new chapter for the industry?

It’s a clear signal that the industry is evolving. This year we’ve seen a greater focus on collaboration, transparency, community and non-competitive partnerships as part of the regular conversations. Brands and retailers are supporting innovation and demonstrating genuine commitment to sustainability. An understanding that sharing, leveraging information, supporting innovators, growers, and change makers is key. We’re seeing more companies invest in innovative sustainable suppliers or step up to demonstrate interest and demand. European regulations, and commitments to support innovation, technical solutions, investments and testing have all become part of the regular activities for brands and retailers. This moment marks the beginning of a new chapter, where sustainable practices are integral to the fashion industry’s future.

This partnership represents a pivotal shift for the denim industry, showcasing how sustainability can align with high performance and style.
