Tastemakers’ Holiday Wish List

What the Top Tastemakers are Gifting This Holiday Season

Ilfenesh Hadera is a diversely skilled actress, dedicated activist and native New Yorker, holding court in Harlem.

When I’m considering gifts for others, I’m always thinking ‘impractical but wearable’ — something your loved ones might not buy for themselves, but would love it if someone else did. I think those are the most fun gifts, both to give and to receive.

For holiday self-splurging, I’d also opt for something that I might not need, but that would be an instant refresh of a wardrobe staple I’d wear for years to come. For instance, those black over-the-knee boots I’ve worn for three years might still look great, but a new and slightly different pair would be a real treat.

As a champion for sustainability, Rachael Wang is a stylist and consultant with an unwavering support of ethical fashion.

My gift to myself would be the ultimate cozy Thermoball mules from The North Face. I love that they are vegan and made from recycled rubber.

My husband would love these vegan sneakers, co-designed by Sean Wotherspoon, that incorporate recycled polyester and cork insoles.

I love layering turtlenecks with my knitwear around the holidays. Dries always does them in great colors.

At the crossroads of contemporary art and fashion, Pari Ehsan celebrates the beauty of innovation through her artistic work.

Fusing art and fragrance, my artist hero Anicka Yi’s first perfume in a collection of three is inspired by her hero, Fusako Shigenobu, and is a sublime assemblage of cedar woody base, citrus yuzu top notes and heart notes of thyme and frankincense. The limited-edition bottle is a piece unto itself.

A blazer with a twist has multifunctional allure and structure that hints at an architectural silhouette. I love the festive essence of this bag and its signature materiality, like carrying a present!

An electric color palette is enhanced by pairing this sweater with its match. I am going extra with this cozy, playful sweater and scarf set.

Chloé Harrouche is street-style star, content creator, fashion consultant, and, most notably, the founder of her label Loulou Studio.

Love the idea of giving something that I know will make the wearer feel relaxed as well as confident in it. The softness about the material on the skin is also part of it… love something timeless, associated with quality, softness and also sustainability.

These comfy loafers remind me how great it will be to enjoy quality time with family between Christmas and New Year’s, snuggled in front of the fireplace in the chicest slippers.

I’m dropping big hints to my husband for this Celine Tabou bag for my holiday gift. But knowing me, I’ll just buy it beforehand. I’m not one to wait!

This speaks for itself. Timeless. White gold adds a bit more masculinity than gold or rose gold. But whichever you choose, you can’t go wrong, because it’s all about the love.

The perfect holiday present most men won’t buy for themselves, this Berluti weekender is masculine, sophisticated and super-chic. Opt for the scritto (‘writing’) for that extra pop, or go simple and clean without it. Either way, this bag is a classic.

As the Vice President of Assouline, Alex Assouline has a finger on the pulse of luxury, art and culture through the world of publishing.

I’ve always wanted this stool, it reminds me of a bookstand with an interesting curvy outline. It can be a very good solitary piece in an apartment with a lot of lighting to reflect on the maple wood. I think it’s time for me to finally purchase it.

Anissa Kermiche has always been a bold new designer that I’ve been following, and this white marble vase is my favorite. Perfect for any housewarming gift – and can fit pretty much every type of flower.

Beyond her longtime blog Erin Off Duty, Géraldine Boublil is Parisian fashion consultant and stylist as well as the founder of Things From.

I have a huge crush on this jacket because I am in love with black and white mixes in general. This one is elegant and timeless and can cross the years easily, worn with jeans and moccasins, or more elegantly at night with black tuxedo pants and heels.

I immediately spotted this one because it started to get cold in Paris, and I was looking for cozy knits that I could pair with jeans or black leggings and high riding boots.

The High Performance Face Cream is the one product I can’t live without. If I could bathe in it, I would! It’s very moisturizing, but not overly so. It truly balances the skin and maintains harmony on its surface. It’s a day cream, a night cream, an eye cream — all in one jar. It can do everything.

I have been a fan of Etro since forever. In the design of each piece, you can remarkably see artistic references, inspirations dictated by different worlds, experimentation and cooperations with maestros past and present. Every piece they make tells the story of fashion, art, travel, nature, sustainability — and all of this means luxury to me.

Nick Wooster is a fashion consultant who’s worked all sides of the luxe business, from designer to retailer to personal stylist.

I always think that the holidays are so about the senses — taste, smell, sight, sound, touch — so I thought the idea of a speaker would be great. The Master & Dynamic speaker is so nice, really good quality. I have it and I think it’s an amazing gift. No one has classic stereos anymore — everyone has Wi-Fi or bluetooth, so this is a really good one.

So here are a couple of of my favorite lamps right now. I’m obsessed with the Gucci lamps — I think they’re the coolest ones out there — and I love this monkey lamp on LVR. It is super cool.
