The iconic french events and party organizer takes on a new adventure this season as she collaborates with SeeMy for her first launch with the skincare brand. In celebration of the launch, Cathy Guetta hosted an event at our flagship shop in Florence to tell us about the brand and her life. The Collaboration with SeeMy
Cathy Guetta by SeeMy is the ultimate summer beauty skincare line. Timeless glow is the essence of the collection. The collection consists of 5 sets of pouches all entitled Lift & Glow each set named after a special city. The sets include: Miami, St. Barth, St. Tropez, Mykonos, Ibiza, and Ferret. Tell us how the beauty launch for SeeMy came about?
The story started some months ago with Elodie, a young woman who owns a beauty salon in Paris, where I go often to do my skin care treatments. One day last March, she asked me to finish developing and to launch her products with my name on it. She had decided all the ingredients in the products, but all of the marketing, communication and packaging we decided together.
There are two products, the first one is the Lift & Glow serum. The serum has very beautiful properties and ingredients. It took us about 18 months of research as we mixed 3 different hyaluronic acids, which is rare for a serum. The hyaluronic acids boost collagen increase so as to moisturize and lift the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. The serum is better than a cream, because cream can be heavy. Serum penetrates the skin better than cream. The skin looks more glowy and plumped after. The most important thing for me were immediate and visible results. The serum has to be applied on clean and dry skin, before the day cream, as a first layer. As it contains mother-of-pearl particles, we have an instant healthy-glow effect. Every woman wants to look glowy, fresh and dewy and this serum does just that. Usually these products are also expensive and I wanted to offer something more accessible for all women. The second product, the Dream Elixir, is a tan booster. It contains 12% of macadamia nut oil with tiny golden particles. It is very moisturizing, leaves the skin soft and is really wonderful for the skin and the tan. It is a dry oil, so is non-greasy and non-staining, but is very thin and penetrates quickly into the skin. Of course, the oil is meant for the décolleté, the neck, the shoulder, the arms, the legs or wherever you need it. The smell is also amazing. You can also mix a little bit of the serum inside your day cream. It is the perfect after-sun!
Have you always been into Beauty and make up?
Yes!!! I love Beauty, make-up and skincare. Ever since I was a little girl, I used to watch Cabaret shows and musical reviews on television with my mom and I always loved shows like Cirque du Soleil. I loved the costumes, design and make-up. When I started in the club industry, it was important to always have beautiful make-up and good skin. Make-up, clothes and hair are very important. In the past, make up was a luxury and it was not accessible to everyday people. It was expensive to buy nice things, but today there are a lot of little brands online to choose from. Now it is different. It is not expensive anymore to get good products. Make-up is really a part of me.
What is your best makeup tip?
It is impossible to go home after a night out and sleep with make-up. That never happens. Even if you are tired, exhausted you have to clean your skin and do your routine. The pores and the skin need to be cleaned. It is very important to clean your skin and stick to your routine.
What is your skin routine?
For my day routine, every morning I cleanse my face with a micellar water with a pad. I use the pad on my face, I do not like to foam, ect. After I put a toner on my face to remove the micellar water, which can be too aggressive for the skin. Then I use my serum. Now I have my own serum, so I use mine. Then I put on my day cream and of course, for summer, sunscreen. I always wear 50 spf, no less than 50. I also use good eye cream and lip balm. Then of course I put a little make-up on top. At night, my routine is pretty much the same. Sometimes, I also apply a cream for my décolleté and take a Vitamin C ampoule.
Did you learn how to take care of your skin from your mother? Do you share your beauty tips with your daughter?
This is an amazing question, my mom was always at home. She took care of us. She dedicated her life to my two brothers and I. Every single day, no matter what, I saw her always with a bit of lipstick and nail polish that she applied by herself as beauty institutes were too expensive. I never saw her without it. My daughter loves makeup as well. She always comes into my bathroom to look and try things and asks me questions. She is only 14 and already has her own routine, but she just likes to play at home with her friends. She is still too young to wear makeup to go out.
Favorite Shoe brands this season?
Triple S Balenciaga trainers, I love them. I have plenty of colors. I love neon colors or special colors. As for heels, I love Bottega Veneta, they are so comfortable. They are my go-to shoes, they are like sneakers. They are so comfortable and the heel is perfect, the colors are also beautiful. I like Valentino heels as well. I like the Gucci plastic sandals also this season, the one with the little heel in pink and I got a flat one in white.
What are your favorite bags?
This is my problem… I need one suitcase just for my bags. When I go to Ibiza for the season, I take between 25-30 suitcases all summer. I need to change my outfit everyday and night and I am full of events for four months. It takes me 2 weeks to pack for Ibizia. My favorite bags… for this summer I love the Balenciaga shopping bag, the Bottega Veneta bag with the gold chain, and Valentino. Valentino is very important for me for when it comes to bags and shoes.
When do you feel the most beautiful?
There are two answers to this. One, I feel most beautiful when I am in Ibiza, before my party, with my team, my makeup is done, I have an amazing outfit, I feel super glam and ready to host people. This moment is so intense, to choose the right outfit to host my party. I feel really beautiful at this moment. To be in the middle of thousands of people.. I feel like the Queen of the night. The feeling is amazing. The second answer is when you are in love with someone and they look at you like you are their whole world. When someone really loves you, and they do everything for you, the way they look at you, this makes me feel beautiful. Also when you are a mom, when my kids tell me I look beautiful, especially now because I have teenagers, and they know what is what… when they look at me and they say “Mom, tonight is your night, you look like a bomb!”
