LVR at Home: Ciao Lucia - 1

We recently caught up with Lucy Akin, the founder and director of Ciao Lucia to see how her quarantine is going. Many of us find ourselves scrolling through our photo albums as we day dream of past vacations and future ones to come. For this series we ask some of our favorite designers and fashionistas to share with us where they’d rather be, how they are spending their time, and what’s the first thing they’ll do when this ends.

Where are you currently?
At my home in Los Angeles

Where would you rather be?
I’m dreaming of where I can escape but at the current moment I’d just like to be with my family in San Francisco, where I grew up.

1 + 2 My dogs – my boys are getting me through this! Any stress at all can be wiped away with a cuddle from them
3. My notebook (to-do list) – I live for a to-do list
4. Pet Nat Wine – cocktail hour is any hour right now…
5. My sunhat – on sunny days, I love working from my backyard
6. Hand Sanitizer – my parent’s friends converted their vodka distillery into a hand sanitizer company – and I love their products!
7. My adaptogenic mushrooms – Chaga and Turkey Tail are my year-round supplements
8. Pasta! – Carbs cure everything!
9. Books – Finally getting to my reading list.
10. Ciao Lucia Sweater – Staying cozy at home in our new sweater delivering this Fall!

What’s the first thing you’ll do when this passes?
Spring is my favorite season and I love being outdoors as much as possible – I want to host a dinner party in my garden the minute this is over! I want to get all my friends together, have some wine, and dance the night away.

What are your favorite pieces from your latest collection
The Delfina Dress, The Gabriela Dress in Terracotta, and The Florentina Dress Flora.

What was the inspiration for your new pieces?
Our new collection was inspired by my trip to Puglia last summer – I focused on the colors of Summer. We used rich terracotta that reminded me of the Mediterranean cliffs, baby pinks and yellows for the sunsets, and a micro-floral print that reminded me of all the olive trees. I wanted the collection to evoke the same joy and love that I get from traveling.

How are you spending your quarantine?
I’m going to take more time for myself and try to work a little less. I’ve really enjoyed how much walking I’ve been doing – it’s cleared my head and made me more creative. I need to create more space and balance in my daily life, and not feel like I need to be working all the time!

A special thanks to Lucy Akin.
