LuisaViaRoma had a special interview with Japanese artist, top model, actress, and singer-songwriter Mariya Nishiuchi in Seoul, Korea. We spoke about her career, style inspiration, passions, style icons, and plans for the future. Follow our chat with Mariya Nishiuchi as she models some of her favorite looks from LVR.com.
LVR: 3 words that describe you?
Mariya: Honest, affectionate and adventurous.
LVR: How would you define yourself as a model, actress, and singer-songwriter?
Mariya: All these roles have all been vehicles for me to express myself and important parts of my journey so far, but I like to think of myself foremost as a singer.
LVR: Which role you like the most from your career?
Mariya: For the same reason, I’d have to say singing. I feel like the truest version of myself when I’m singing. Music really lights up my heart.
LVR: What kind of roles you would like to play in the future as an actress?
Mariya: I’d like to challenge myself with a role that is completely different from who I am – maybe playing someone closest to the most shocking person I’ve ever met.
LVR : Would you like to share with us the new project that you are working on? What are your future plans?
Mariya: I can’t say anything in specific just yet, but I am preparing new work musically right now.
LVR: How do you define your style?
Mariya: I’m drawn to the image of a woman as both strong and supple, so I try to express that in my fashion and styling.
LVR: Who is your favorite designer?
Mariya: Yohji Yamamoto. Even with his uniform use of black, I sense a playfulness in his work from the choice of textiles to the asymmetric design and his unique silhouettes.
LVR: What have been your favorite brands recently?
Mariya: Burberry – Ricardo Tisci’s designs have made me fall in love with Burberry. It’s now a brand I can have fun with and use more casually.
LVR: Where is your favorite place to travel?
Mariya: I love Spain.
LVR: What do you do in your free time?
Mariya: I like listening to music and watching Netflix.
LVR: Where is your next destination?
Mariya: Seoul. I had so much fun at the LuisaViaRoma shoot, and I’m heading there again for work. Of course, I’d love to put Shanghai on my list too.
