Nike ZoomX Vista Grind

Meet the women’s sneaker that’ll have all male sneakerheads desperately searching for a bigger size. Forget drooling over a pair of men’s kicks, with Nike’s ZoomX Vista Grind, this time the most-wanted shoes are for her. Featuring a semi see-through neon green upper, a recycled ZoomX scrap midsole and a futuristic exaggerated style, this pair delivers a responsive feel, a bouncy foot and stand-out silhouette. Apart from being both comfortable and fashion forward, the ZoomX also leaves a lighter footprint: It’s Nike’s first-ever shoe to feature a midsole that minimizes waste by repurposing scrap foam.

Dropping on LVR.com and LuisaViaRoma in an exclusive pre-launch a month before their public debut, there’s no time to waste. The drop date is Tuesday June 11th.

How did you interpret the ZoomX Vista Grind through the in-store installation?
If I had to summarize the design of the shoe with one word, it would contrast: the chunky sole vs. the transparent upper, the fluorescent colors vs. the white sole… this concept of contrast guided me in the installation. I wanted to create a space full of contrasts where pure and geometric shapes (present in the totem for example) are put together with organic forms like the foam on the wall. The graphics as well are contemporary but at the same time have a tribal aspect to them. I was also inspired by the colors…. Let’s say overall I really enjoyed breaking down the shoe according to the main elements to recreate a space that spoke the same language.
Why did you decide to use the green foam slime-like effect in the downstairs?
When I was a child, I loved playing with slime… that soft, sticky, moldable material. It’s such a mysterious material that seemed perfect for this new shoe that has such a futuristic design and concept.
What do you think of female empowerment in the design world?
I don’t want to exclude female empowerment only to the world of design. I believe that thanks to certain conquests today that women are more free from certain constraints than in the past.

Inspired by the Nike ZoomX Vista Grind, Elena Salmistraro revolutionizes the downstairs into a new, unknown territory. Starting with the recycled foam sole of the shoe, Salmistraro uses polyurethane green foam that slides down the wall giving an overall slime-type effect. The wallpaper is made up of geometric and wave like forms that recall the graphics on the shoes. Plexiglass, wood and polyurethane foam totems, created by Salmistraro, resemble otherworldly portals bringing this first of it’s kind shoe into the new space. The long pile green carpet acts as a safe, soft surface to test out the bouncy soles and complete this new, unfamiliar world.
