Can you tell us a bit about your collaboration with Ruslan Baginskiy?
I’ve always LOVED accessories and feel they are always the key to a great look. I wanted it to be very masculine, but sexy at the same time…which is always my vibe when it comes to styling.
The perfect outfit to pair with this hat?
I would wear it with an oversized blazer as a dress, and some super high heeled strappy black sandals. Another option would be a wool jumper and knee-high boots. Red lips are a good extra too.
How would you sum up what you do in a sentence?
I’m a digital creator, girlboss, and curator of all things I find inspiring and feel will inspire others too.
How do you waste time, when your schedule is clear?
I love movies and TV shows. I remember wanting to study film instead of fashion. I’m a massive freak when it comes to talking about this stuff. I know all the movies, names, and stories. Home cinema and popcorn is my favorite thing to do alone or with friends.
Run us through a typical day for you…
My days are so unpredictable. For the last year, I’ve been struggling with scheduling my life…it’s not easy being my own girlboss at 25. I “run” a small business which is @gigi_vives and every creative decision is mine. It’s not easy to be creative 24/7, but I’m always looking for inspo, saving photos I love, following editorials and publications I admire & dreaming of going bigger and bigger with everything I do. I feel it’s never enough so my day to day is just looking to inspire and feel inspired.
What are your essential pieces in your wardrobe?
My style is so hard to define. When it comes to clothes I’m pretty basic most of the time. 90% of my wardrobe is black. I love playing with fabrics though. I love to mix and match. Silk and sequins, leather and wool, denim and jacquard…I’m also starting to enjoy colors and prints. Fashion exists to play and have fun and this new season is all about that for me. I would say my style is the perfect balance with feminine and masculine, sporty and chic, serious and playful. I never go too far into one or another…I always stay in between.
Describe yourself in three words…
Curious, daydreamer and creatively very stubborn.
What’s your favorite time of day?
Definitely the evening. Barcelona slows down and gets quiet…the air is also cooler so I get to open the windows. It’s perfect.
What’s a must-have item every woman should own?
An oversized vintage black men’s blazer. It’s a life savior for ANY occasion.
Your favorite place in the world and why?
It used to be London but I visited New York for the second time this last Spring and it stole my heart. I feel it would be the perfect place for me.
If your life was a song what would the title be?
My best friend used to joke and say the perfect one would be “Problem”. I would love to believe it’s “The best is yet to come”.
The top three things on your fall shopping wishlist?
Black heeled knee-high boots, men’s oversized coat & fun colorful accessories.
If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
Fuchsia pink.
One thing you can’t live without?
My dog, Lupita. I dream about her every time we’re apart. I never thought I could love another being so so much.
What inspires you?
Good movies, very visual magazines, old and new music, TV shows of all kinds, real or fictional characters, people that are unique, moments to remember, my family and friends, art, photography, and reading. Anything really. It’s HOW you see and learn to see things that matter. “The eye has to travel” – Diana Vreeland… it’s my favorite quote and it inspired my first ever tattoo.
