At LVRSustainable we are committed to doing our part in combating poverty and gender inequality, which is why we’ve re-joined forces with Oxfam, the humanitarian organization dedicated to reducing global poverty through development projects and humanitarian aid, to launch another campaign: Empowering Women, Improving Society.
Mariam’s Story
Meet Mariam Tawfeeq Matlaq, a plumber from Zarqa town, north of Jordan’s capital, where she lives with her three daughters and son. Through Oxfam’s gracious support, Mariam was able to kickstart her plumbing business and open her hardware shop in North Amman. As a result, Mariam has created employment opportunities for her community. She now provides training for women to develop their skills as a plumber and employs both women and men alike.
