From her sound to her style, when it comes to Chinese Pop Star Momo Wu expect the unexpected.

Flashback four years to 2012, as Wu Mochou from Qiqihar, a small town to the north of the Heilongjiang province, entered the Voice of China. The young singers pitch-perfect rendition of Jessie J’s chart-topping single ‘Price Tag’ earning her a spot on the popular entertainment contest and catapulting her into the limelight. Little did the 120 million viewers at home know that the unknown singer would transform into one of Mainland China’s most lucrative performers.

Between sold out performances and a stream of high profile endorsements, Momo Wu, as she is more commonly known, has established a diverse and loyal following. Since the end of the popular program, the petite singer has managed to enter the ranks of the country’s musical elite, no doubt thanks to her distinct style and soulful vocals.

Equal parts musical talent and showmanship, it comes as no surprise that the media affectionately refers to her as the Lady Gaga of China. Similar to her American counterpart, the singer is the ultimate style chameleon who is constantly re-inventing her look and sound with each new release.

For her most recent music video ‘喜歡呦Love Yo’, LUISAVIAROMA invited the talented singer to Florence, the cinematic Tuscan city providing the perfect backdrop to the sweet ballad. Momo Wu slips seamlessly into the role of a young woman in love with a handsome stranger, transforming into the picture of the modern lady in Dolce & Gabbana, Antonio Berardi and Salvatore Ferragamo. While the change in appearance may come as a surprise to her millions of followers, the simple style gives her an air of approachability that is often lost in her signature look – think ultra-bright colors and mixed prints topped off with dramatic winged eyeliner.

When it comes to channeling your inner Momo Wu, be inspired by the Spring Summer 2016 selection featuring Chloé, Max Mara, Saint Laurent and more.
