Whenever the new Air Jordan 1 High model is mentioned, expectations are always through the roof. Even more so when we consider its colorway of red, black, and white, a tribute to the Chicago Bulls. Given their close connection to the brand’s origins, it’s no surprise that these kicks are destined to become an absolute must-have for many aficionados.
The year was 1985, and the Jordan Brand was trying to decide what color scheme would be most appropriate for the official launch of the Air Jordan 1s. Before the celebrated “Chicago” and “Bred” models made their first appearances, the brand decided to experiment by creating a pair with a blue toe box, upon which a white leather panel was placed which then extended all the way to the mid side, where, as always, the swoosh was applied. A black collar and matching laces completed the look. The model in question, however (similar to a reversed “Royal”), never made it to the mass market – it was only produced in extremely limited sample quantities.
After the debut of the Fragment x Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 High sneakers this summer, photos of the original sample models have resurfaced, garnering much public interest: the creative trio behind the Travis Scott model clearly drew inspiration from the aforementioned bold vintage kicks. Riding this wave of newfound popularity, the Jordan Brand decided to take influence from the 1985 design by proposing the same color block placement but substituting blue with red, resulting in today’s Air Jordan 1 High “Heritage” sneakers.
The model will launch on Saturday, April 9th, 2022 in an exclusive raffle for members of the LVR Sneakers Club.
