Sofia Carson and Paulina Char are just like your ordinary sisters – they fight over clothes, binge Netflix and order in Cheetos and candy. Sofia is a pop star and actress, most notably starring as Evie in the Disney Channel original movies, Descendents and Descendents 2 while her sister Paulina is an aspiring makeup guru. LuisaViaRoma caught up with the sisters in sunny Malibu, California to discuss all things fashion, makeup and what it means to be a woman today.
GET TO KNOW THE SISTER DUO…
Sofia you seem incredibly busy. What is your latest project?
Sofia – It’s been a pretty exciting year so far. I was cast as the new ‘Pretty Little Liar’ on the official spin-off, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists. I’m so thrilled to be a part of this and continue the legacy.
Do you have a lot in common with your PLL character Ava?
Sofia – I’m so honored to work with director Marlene King and play Ava. She’s strong, confident and a hard worker so we have that in common.
Paulina – Marlene always creates empowered career women, which is the epitome of Sofia.
What is it like to be sisters?
Paulina – We’re inseparable and do everything together. She’s always been my sister and while all of this is very exciting, at the end of the day she’s still just my sister.
Sofia – She’s my rock! Being her sister is the biggest honor in the world.
You spend every minute together. Do you share everything as well?
Sofia – Paulina has a big passion for makeup and she always gets mad at me for stealing hers. It’s just so good.
Paulina – She never gives it back!
Sofia – True, but then she wears my shoes and accessories so it evens out. We have fun!
What is your biggest career goal?
Paulina – My ultimate dream is to have my own makeup line. I found my passion and am pursuing my dream, and hopefully it’ll come true! Stay tuned!
Sofia – Ever since we were younger, I’ll look at her and say “How do you that!? Teach me!” She’s going to take over the world.
What’s one fashion item that you can’t without?
Paulina – A pair of good jeans and a good leather jacket.
Sofia – I think also a T-shirt that looks like it was made for you, perfect for the LA laid-back look.
Three words for each other’s style?
Paulina – Sophisticated, glamorous and chic.
Sofia – Effortless, chic and feminine.
How do you feel about #TimesUp?
Sofia – I feel so honored to be a woman and to be in this business right now. I can’t wait to see what the younger generation of women is going to accomplish.
Paulina – Our voices are finally being heard, it’s very empowering.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Sofia – Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m eternally grateful every single day for this life.
Paulina – Thank you for loving her!
