The spotlight this season tilts towards a vibrant prism of hue. The “La La Land” spectrum of bright colors beckons us to tap into a happier state of mind, and relish in this season’s Crayola colored bliss. Embrace this technicolor trend from designers like Max Mara, Balenciaga, and Jacquemus. You can mix-and-match for a strong color-blocked look, or line up and match perfectly for a monochromatic statement.
More is more is more. We want an explosion of glamour this season. Glitter, bows, taffeta, feathers galore! Gone are the days when we shied away from “too much”. This season is all about embracing the magnetism and allure of extravagance. The queen of exuberant dressing Iris Apfel confirms that, “Life is gray and dull, you might as well have a little fun when you dress.” Bring on the fun then, with unexpected volume, a whirlwind of color, shiny metallics, prints and plenty of sequins! Look to designers like Attico, Gucci, and Givenchy for inspiration. The more you add here, the better. Don’t be afraid to double (or even triple) up on opulent details this season.
Fashion is seeing a resurgence of timeless elegance and polish. Exquisitely tailored, ladylike suiting was presented this season in exceptional fabrics like fine wool, cashmere, tweeds, and houndstooth. Curved shoulders and nipped-in waists exude a sense of powerful femininity, and construct a sculptural hourglass silhouette. Try it in a matching set in toned-down colors paired with starched collars, bow neckties and a smooth top handle leather handbag for bonus points. Designers leading this trend were Alexandre Vauthier, Fendi, Givenchy, and Marc Jacobs.
Checkmate. Both the cheeky ‘90s matchy-matchy look and the classically British Burberry tartan deserve a spot in your rotation this fall. In our opinion, checks, tartans, plaid, and houndstooth are basically neutrals. So, go ahead and layer on the checks! Mix patterns together, contrast colors, or wear one pattern head-to-toe.
“Sleepleisure” is the luxe nightwear trend that is hitting the snooze button and here to stay. For outerwear, designers like Maison Margiela, JW Anderson, and Balenciaga wrapped models in blanket coats made of insulated wool, billowy puffers, and quilted styles. You don’t have to sacrifice comfort for style, and “sleepleisure” is decidedly chic. Roll out of bed in your cosmic printed silk pajama shirt, leggings and throw on this cuddly coat without a second thought. Morning strolls with your dog and matcha latte runs have never felt more stylish.
